From the SF Airport or the Peninsula/South Bay: Take US- 101 North, watch for Golden Gate Bridge exit...
From the East Bay: Take I80 West (Bay Bridge), watch for Golden Gate Bridge exit...
From downtown SF: Take any westbound street to Van Ness Avenue, turn right...
...then: Take Van Ness Avenue (aka 101 North). Turn left on Lombard Street to continue on 101 North, towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Move into and stay in the far-left lane, and, after crossing Broderick Street (which is right after Divisadero Street), follow the left turn arrow, which means you'll remain on the continuation of Lombard Street. Two blocks up, after a 4-way Stop, you'll enter the Presidio.
Once you've entered the Presidio, proceed to a 3-way Stop. Go straight. At the next 3-way Stop, turn right onto Presidio Boulevard. At the next 4-way Stop, continue straight (which means that you are now on Lincoln Boulevard). As you come around a curve, you will see the sign for Building 1016 - Thoreau Center on your right. Continue past our building, and make your next right on Girard Road. Follow Girard Road around to the parking lot in front of Thoreau Center. Cost for parking is $1 per hour or $6 for the day. No cash — only credit card payments allowed (or ATM with the Visa symbol). The meter is to the right of the parking lot as you near the first parking stall. We are on the third floor, accessible by stairs immediately on your left, or by elevator to the left beyond the stairs.

From the North Bay: Take US-101 South across the Golden Gate Bridge, proceed to Downtown/Lombard Street exit. Stay in the far right lane. Immediately before the first stop light, turn right onto Lyon Street. Proceed forward, past the first stop sign, to the four-way stop at Lombard Street. Turn right, entering the Presidio, then follow directions above.
By Public Transportation: The Presidio is accessible by MUNI bus routes 41, 45 and 30 (from downtown SF/Market Street), 28, 29, and 43 (from other points in the city). Only the 29 and 43 serve the Thoreau Center directly, others require a 5-10 minute walk from near the Lombard Street Presidio Gate. From the North Bay, several Golden Gate Transit buses also stop near the Lombard Gate. MUNI: 673-6864 GG Transit: 923-2000.
By Bicycle: The Presidio is open and accessible to bikes from any point in the city. From the East Bay, you can board the Oakland/Alameda Ferry (510-522-3300) with your bike and ride from the Ferry Building. From the North Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge is open to bikers at all times — access is via Bridgeway from Sausalito.
